PACU NURSE Volunteers on Mercy Ship

Aileen Asi, RN
Post-Anesthesia Care

Aileen Asi, RN, from the PACU at the Mountain View campus, volunteered with Mercy Ships, a global charity that provides surgical care in underserved regions using fully equipped hospital ships. Inspired by a past conversation and supported by her per diem role at El Camino Health, Aileen took a two-week leave to serve on a Mercy Ship. There, she worked alongside an international team to complete 15 pediatric cleft lip and palate surgeries, 20 cataract procedures, and 12 thyroid surgeries, all meeting U.S. standards of care. Aileen described the experience as deeply rewarding and hopes to volunteer again in the future.
