Effect of a Structured Activity Room Session in the Inpatient Setting: A Retrospective Chart Review

Author: Heather Roorda MSN RN-BC

Studies show social/leisure activities were found to have a positive effect on the well-being of older adults. Activities such as music listening, playing cards, and painting resulted in decreased agitation and improved cognitive performance. A retrospective chart review will look at patient outcome data to evaluate the effect of a once a week, 1 hour "Happy Hour" activity session conducted on our 2c medical unit.
