Denise Johnson, MD

Dr. Denise Johnson Miller is a fellowship-trained oncologic surgeon who specializes in treating individuals with breast cancer or at an increased risk for breast cancer. People may be identified as high-risk breast patients if they have a family history of breast cancer, have been found to have specific gene mutations, or have had breast cancer or radiation treatments in the past. Her surgical specialization includes oncoplastic surgery techniques with skin and nipple sparing mastectomies.

She provides evidence-based surgical and nonsurgical care and takes the time to thoroughly explain why certain treatments are recommended based on clinical trials, peer-reviewed publications and her own clinical experience.

Dr. Miller is committed to involving patients in the decisions surrounding their medical care. “I enjoy treating the ‘whole’ patient, listening to what is important to each person in terms of their quality of life and goals,” she explains.

Outside her practice, Dr. Miller is an avid lover of the arts. She enjoys attending plays and listening to music. She also enjoys Pilates — especially cardio Pilates classes — visits with family and exploring the California coastline.
