Yazeed Gussous, MD

Dr. Yazeed Gussous is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders.

Dr. Gussous' primary focus is to provide the best care for his patients— he has the patient's interest as the only interest to be considered when customizing a treatment plan for them. He explores non-operative options before considering surgery, and when surgery is indicated and desired by the patient, he seeks the least invasive options to effectively achieve the goals of the surgery.

He has special interest in utilizing the most advanced technologies to enhance the safety and value of basic, as well as complex spine surgery. He partnered with El Camino Health to acquire and utilize the latest technologies in preoperative surgical planning, navigated spine surgery, robotic spine surgery, and he continues to seek to advance available technologies.

He's an author and coauthor of several book chapters and original articles, a member of the Scoliosis Research Society and is on the editorial board of Spine Deformity journal. He worked in the Biomechanics Research Labs at the Mayo Clinic and the University of Illinois at Chicago during his medical training.

Dr. Gussous completed his orthopedic surgery training at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Shriners Hospitals for Children in Chicago, and spine surgery fellowships at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Gussous takes pride in being accessible to his patients and involved in every aspect of their care before, during and after surgery. He says, "Patients are my partners in decision-making when it comes to the choice of treatment, and I will be by their side throughout the process."
