This date is cancelled. Developed in India in 1995, Laughter Yoga requires no tricky poses or balancing acts. Instead, the practice elicits giggles, guffaws, and belly laughs through a combination of deep breathing and exercises that train the diaphragm and abdominal muscles.
Laughter stimulates the heart and blood vessels and reduces the production of stress hormones. It can also help to reduce fear, counter depression, promote a positive outlook, generate pain-fighting endorphins, strengthen the immune system, and infuse oxygen into the body. And a good laugh just leaves you feeling happier.
El Camino Health's Cardiovascular Pulmonary Wellness Center (CPWC) offers this lecture series for patients and their families who are in cardiac rehabilitation. The subject matter deals with risk factor reduction for heart disease.
