Critical Care Unit | 650-940-7175

Visiting hours are flexible and at the discretion of the patient’s nurse, and may vary from hour to hour. Please call the critical care unit before you visit to make sure it’s an appropriate time. Before you enter the unit, stop at the critical care unit waiting room desk and check in with the volunteer or call the nurses’ station (dial 7175) from a hospital phone. When you visit, please keep in mind:

  • Children under 12 aren’t allowed to visit unless special arrangements have been made with the patient’s nurse; children older than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Pictures and cards are welcome, but flowers and plants aren’t allowed.
  • You may only bring in food for the patient with prior approval from the patient’s nurse.

Progressive Care Unit | 650-940-7135

Visiting hours are flexible and at the discretion of the patient’s nurse, and may vary from hour to hour. Before visiting, please call the unit to ask if it’s an appropriate time to visit. Please designate a family member as the “point person” to receive updates in order to help us keep the number of visitors in the waiting room to a minimum. If the waiting room becomes crowded, staff may ask some members of larger visiting groups to wait in the hospital lobby.

Additional visiting guidelines include:

  • Children under 10 must remain in the waiting room with adult supervision.
  • As a courtesy to others in the waiting room, please don’t use cell phones or bring in food.
  • The unit observes quiet time for patients between 2:30 and 4 p.m., though visitors are still allowed during this time.
