Mountain View, CA - February 18, 2009 - El Camino Hospital District Board member Mark O'Connor is resigning from his position on the five-member, publicly elected board effective February 28, 2010 due to personal reasons. Mr. O'Connor has been an active board member since 1994, serving as chairperson from 2003 to 2005.
"Mark's tenure on the board has spanned many significant events in El Camino Hospital's history," says current Board Chairperson Wesley Alles, "from the early part of his term when he was instrumental in ensuring that El Camino Hospital remain a locally governed, independent hospital, to his leadership during the Measure D bond campaign to help fund our new hospital. His commitment to the people who live in the community led to his passionate support for the hospital's community benefit program. Mark O'Connor has had tremendous impact over these past 16 years on the hospital, its patients and the community."
In addition to his term on the El Camino Hospital District and Hospital Board, Mr. O'Connor served on the El Camino Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, the CONCERN: EAP Board of Directors, and the Community Benefit Advisory Group. A licensed physician assistant, he regularly contributed his professional skills as a volunteer at the hospital's RotaCare Free Clinic.
To fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Mr. O'Connor, the remaining District Board members will appoint a new member at a special meeting on April 20, 2010.
