El Camino Health earns top marks for fourth consecutive year
Mountain View, CA – For the fourth year in a row, El Camino Health's Los Gatos and Mountain View hospitals earned five stars, the highest ranking possible, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The national average among hospitals is three stars.
"Quality patient care and safety are top priorities, so earning the prestigious 5-Star CMS Overall Hospital Quality Rating proves our commitment to quality care and excellent outcomes," said Mark Adams, MD, chief medical officer at El Camino Health. "I'm so proud of our entire team who has set a high standard of performance for themselves, so its’ extremely gratifying to see these results for a fourth straight year."
CMS annually assigns star ratings to hospitals nationwide based on their performance across a variety of quality measures divided into five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care. The overall hospital rating ranges from one to five stars. CMS developed the program to help consumers make more informed decisions by giving them a way to compare hospitals based on quality ratings, and to help hospitals note areas for improvement.
El Camino Health is one of 483 hospitals in the U.S. to earn this five-star designation. Adams added; "Our nurses, physicians and team members go above and beyond each day to ensure our patients have a positive experience and are provided with exceptional care."
