When cancer affects you or a loved one, it takes a toll physically and mentally. Community Benefit partner Cancer CAREpoint helps ease that burden by increasing access to mental health support through free, professional counseling services, specifically for those navigating a cancer diagnosis.

Living with a cancer diagnosis can be a challenging adjustment ‒ both for patients and loved ones. It’s essential to take time to process all the new thoughts, feelings and concerns.

Community Benefit partner Cancer CAREpoint helps support patients, survivors, and their families and caregivers throughout the difficult journey. They provide free, professional counseling services, in-person and virtually, for anyone dealing with the impacts of cancer. Their counselors specialize in helping those affected by cancer, filling a gap in mental health support services in the community.

With support from the Community Benefit program, Cancer CAREpoint employs two master’s-level counselors who provide:

  • Counseling sessions for individuals, couples or families
  • Support group meetings focused on specific, cancer-related topics, such as metastatic disease, caregiving or grief counseling

Fiscal year 2026 marks Cancer CAREpoint’s tenth year as a Community Benefit partner. Their commitment to compassion and community empowers the people of Santa Clara County, helping patients and families find the support, resources and hope they need to navigate some of life’s most difficult moments with dignity. These services directly address mental health access, one of the top needs identified in El Camino Health’s fiscal year 2026 Implementation Strategy Report and Community Benefit Plan.
