Assembly Member Gail Pellerin Visits to Learn About our Mental Health Services

On January 26, El Camino Health welcomed Assembly Member Gail Pellerin to provide an overview of our comprehensive mental health and addiction services and to see Taube Pavilion's award-winning design.

Pellerin — an advocate for suicide prevention and mental health services — was elected to the State Assembly in November and served for 27 years as the chief elections official and Santa Cruz County clerk. As part of her leadership on suicide prevention and mental health services, she serves on the board of directors of NAMI Santa Cruz County. She represents the 28th Assembly District, including Los Gatos Hospital. She toured the hospital in October and learned more about El Camino Health, the El Camino Healthcare District and the services at each of our hospitals.

Designed by WRNS Studio, the 56,000-square-foot Taube Pavilion has earned recognition from ASHRAE (formerly the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), receiving an ASHRAE Golden Gate Technology Award in the Healthcare and Education Buildings Categories. The building features evidence-based design elements, including plenty of natural light, greenery, private rooms and a welcoming, comfortable environment.

El Camino Health has become a leader in mental health care, introducing innovative programs such as ASPIRE (After-School Program Interventions and Resiliency Education®). ASPIRE provides dialectical behavioral therapy, expressive art, individual and group therapy, and activities to help young people manage their feelings, emotions and personal interactions.
