Older Americans Month: Serving an Aging Population

Older Americans Month: Serving an Aging Population

May was Older Americans Month, and improving life and health for older members of our community is a high priority of El Camino Health and our Community Benefit partners.

May was Older Americans Month, highlighting the contributions, aging trends and needs of older people. The 2025 theme, Flip the Script on Aging, focuses on changing perceptions, challenging stereotypes and dispelling misconceptions about aging.

The U.S. population is older today than ever before, and the youngest baby boomers won’t turn 65 until 2030. Meeting the needs of a growing number of older Americans and the people who care for them has long been a high priority for El Camino Health and many of our Community Benefit partners. For example:

  • West Valley Community Services Community Access to Resources and Education (CARE) Senior Program offers case management and help accessing resources to improve financial, physical and emotional health for low-income seniors.
  • Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley provide care management and behavioral health support services for vulnerable older adults.
  • Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation’s 55 Plus Program works to ensure free or low-cost access to recreation, education, socialization and wellness opportunities throughout Los Gatos and surrounding areas.

Improving health and life for older Americans is one goal of Healthy People 2030.
