Increasing access to culturally sensitive, integrated care
High-quality healthcare should be provided in a person's native language — and with respect for their culture and background — for better understanding and outcomes. Immigrant and minority families in San Jose have access to bilingual, bicultural medical assistants and patient navigators, thanks in part to El Camino Health's grant partnership with Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI).
AACI has been serving marginalized and ethnic communities in Santa Clara County since 1973. Their multi-cultural and multi-lingual staff speaks over 40 languages and understand the lived experiences of our patients. Healthcare services are offered at AACI clinics in San Jose and include:
- Primary care for all ages
- Language interpretation services at medical appointments
- Integrated behavioral health services
- Enrollment for health insurance coverage through programs such as Medi-Cal, Covered California or the Primary Care Access Program
- Referrals for community resources, such as mental health counseling, shelter for survivors of domestic violence and human-trafficking, senior services, food banks or transportation
- Enhanced Care Management for people with complex needs
