Mountain View, CA - April 2, 2008 - El Camino Hospital and Blue Shield of California announce that they have reached agreement on terms for the health maintenance organization (HMO) and preferred provider organization (PPO) contract held by the two parties. The contract is retroactively effective to March 1, 2008, and will remain in effect until December 31, 2010.
"We are pleased with the outcome of these negotiations and especially pleased that Blue Shield members in our community will continue to have access to the care and the providers they have chosen at El Camino Hospital," says Kenneth Graham, chief executive officer of the hospital.
"Blue Shield of California is glad that our members in Silicon Valley will be able to continue getting care at El Camino Hospital," said David Joyner, senior vice president, network services for the not-for-profit health plan.
The agreement comes after several months of contract renewal negotiations. Contract talks had reached an impasse early in the year, but both parties continued to negotiate, with the expectation that agreement could be reached.
