Wayne’s Story: Nurse, Father, Veteran

Wayne credits his time on the United States Army Reserve with helping him become the dedicated nurse, husband and father he is today.

He joined the Reserve in June 1991, one month after graduating from high school. Stationed at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Georgia, he started as a Field Artillery and eventually worked his way up to a Second Lieutenant position. His experience in these roles helped him develop both a strong sense of discipline and key leadership skills, in addition to fostering personal development and growth.

Through the Reserve, Wayne was able to support himself through undergraduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi and achieve a Nursing degree from Excelsior College in New York.

He then moved to San Jose and started working at El Camino Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit in 2009. He is currently a Clinical Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit in Los Gatos.

Wayne is thankful for the many opportunities that the Army Reserve provided him. Originally a Georgia native, he enjoys going on hikes and getting outdoors. When he is not caring for patients at the hospital, he is spending his time at home with his wife and family.
