
Call for Applications - Governance Committee Member
The purpose of the Governance Committee (“Committee”) is to advise the El Camino Hospital (ECH) Hospital Board of Directors (“Board”) in matters related to governance, board development, board effectiveness, and board composition, e.g., the nomination and appointment/reappointment process and succession planning for the Board. The Governance Committee ensures the Board and its Advisory Committees are functioning at the highest level of governance standards. We are seeking to fill one or more positions with individuals meeting the qualifications noted below.

Position Specification:
Professional Experience/Competencies
Candidates will have significant experience in one or more of the following prioritized areas:
- Board Governance. Ability to guide and uphold effective governance practices, ensuring the board fulfills its legal, ethical, and functional responsibilities. Experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing governance policies and procedures, as well as evaluating board effectiveness and supporting board recruitment, orientation, and development.
- Organizational Leadership. Experience in organizational leadership, with the ability to provide strategic direction, foster a culture of accountability, and drive organizational performance.
- Healthcare Executive Leadership. Experience in executive leadership roles within the healthcare sector, with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems, regulatory environments, and industry trends.
Additional Experience/Competencies
- Governance (Board and/ or Board Committee) experience is preferred but not required
- The successful candidate will be independent as defined in the Committee Charter
- An advanced degree is preferred, but not required.

This is a volunteer, unpaid Committee member role. An individual from the local community in and around Santa Clara County is required due to onsite attendance requirements. Experience in healthcare is not a requirement.
