Employees Contribute to Make a Bigger Difference for Patients and Families

Seven hundred sixty-five El Camino Health employees donated $139,270 to the Foundation’s 2025 Employee Giving Campaign to enhance patient care, help a colleague, or provide assistance to a patient in need. More of them were first time donors or increased their gifts than in past years, a sign of impressive commitment to El Camino Health and the community we serve.

Jessica Munafo, supervisor clinical informatics procedural areas, explained why she donates. “Participating as a volunteer at the Foundation's annual golf tournament has let me experience firsthand how grateful members of the community are for the work our healthcare system does. Our care and compassion follow our patients and make such an impression that it inspires members of the community to give back by participating in events that support our organization. As a volunteer you feel that sincerity and it fills you with a sense of pride because our El Camino Health mission and values truly do make a difference. That’s why I contribute to the Employee Giving Campaign.”

As part of the campaign, which ran from September through December, Foundation staff and volunteers handed out cookies on November 14 and 15 to celebrate National Philanthropy Day and thank employees for their dedication. Many hospital staff members proudly demonstrated their support by wearing employee giving polo shirts or pins they had received in past years. Most donated to the El Camino Fund for use where the need is greatest. Mental health & addiction services, the ASPIRE adolescent mental health program, the neonatal intensive care unit, and hospital employee assistance fund received significant support too.

“Hospital staff demonstrate their commitment to excellence through their work every day,” says Foundation President Andrew Cope. “We are profoundly grateful that so many express their compassion for patients and colleagues and pride in El Camino Health by donating to the Foundation to make an even greater difference.”
