Oncology360: A Standing-Room-Only Celebration of Life, Learning, and Whole-Person Cancer Care
This El Camino Health family came together to celebrate 20 years of community care at Oncology360: From Prevention to Survivorship on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The event brought together patients, survivors, caregivers, doctors, and healthcare providers to recognize and celebrate all the ways the community supports, treats, and respects each other and helps patients and their loved ones to survive cancer and live their best lives.
The response to the event was overwhelming—registration reached capacity in just three days—and the program welcomed a standing-room-only crowd all united by a shared journey and a sense of hope.

The main program opened with heartfelt remarks from Dr. Shyamali Singhal, followed by deeply moving survivor recognition led by Chaplain Alyss Swanson. Honora, a two-time breast cancer survivor, shared her inspiring story of resilience and courage with humor and joy, reminding everyone that cancer survivorship is not just possible—it’s powerful. Dr. Shane Dormady, Medical Director, Medical Oncology, affectionately named “Dr. Disintegration” by Honora for his ability to “disintegrate” her cancer cells, made a guest appearance in the super hero cape that she made for him.

A highlight of the morning was the panel of expert El Camino Health cancer physicians. Doctors took questions from the audience and offered candid, insightful commentary about the latest in cancer treatment, prevention, and what thriving looks like after treatment ends. From the latest in treatment and diagnostics to the most practical of tips about travel, handling anxiety, and the benefit of exercise, these patient-centered professionals gave the audience practical and sensible advice on how each person can make their cancer journey just one part of their life. The main program concluded with practical, joyful tips from Oncology dietitian Nicole Gunnare, who shared about food and healing in Intuitive Eating 101.

Before and after the main presentations, guests explored a vibrant health fair, highlighting the complete wraparound services offered at our Mountain View and Los Gatos Cancer Centers. From nutrition and mental health support to fitness, acupuncture, and spiritual care, these resources are at the heart of our cancer center’s whole-person approach to care. The energy in the room was electric as attendees connected with care providers, learned about a wide variety of support services for patients and caregivers, and experienced the compassionate ecosystem that surrounds every patient at El Camino Health. The full Oncology360 program can be viewed on YouTube. Save the date for next year: June 6, 2026.
