Oncology360: A Standing-Room-Only Celebration of Life, Learning, and Whole-Person Cancer Care

“Over the last 20 years at El Camino Health we have built what is one big cancer family, starting with one patient, one chart, one doctor and one nurse…Everyone in our program is part of this family, and we have built it right here in our community.” –Dr. Shyamali Singhal, Medical Director, El Camino Health Cancer Center

This El Camino Health family came together to celebrate 20 years of community care at Oncology360: From Prevention to Survivorship on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The event brought together patients, survivors, caregivers, doctors, and healthcare providers to recognize and celebrate all the ways the community supports, treats, and respects each other and helps patients and their loved ones to survive cancer and live their best lives.

The response to the event was overwhelming—registration reached capacity in just three days—and the program welcomed a standing-room-only crowd all united by a shared journey and a sense of hope.

The main program opened with heartfelt remarks from Dr. Shyamali Singhal, followed by deeply moving survivor recognition led by Chaplain Alyss Swanson. Honora, a two-time breast cancer survivor, shared her inspiring story of resilience and courage with humor and joy, reminding everyone that cancer survivorship is not just possible—it’s powerful. Dr. Shane Dormady, Medical Director, Medical Oncology, affectionately named “Dr. Disintegration” by Honora for his ability to “disintegrate” her cancer cells, made a guest appearance in the super hero cape that she made for him.
