Who Is on Your Cancer Care Team?

Your Cancer Care team includes a range of health providers, all with specialized expertise in oncology. You get to know the same faces at each visit, and they get to know you. Together, you find an effective approach to treating your cancer.

Your oncology coordinator (also called your new patient coordinator) guides you and your family from diagnosis through treatment. They’re your main point of contact. They coordinate all aspects of your care, including scheduling appointments, answering questions and connecting you with helpful resources. Think of them as your patient advocate.

On your team, you may have different cancer specialists, depending on your cancer type, stage and treatment. These specialists not only work together but also with your primary care provider.

Tumor Board: A Team Approach to Your Care

Our weekly tumor boards are just one way we work together for you. A tumor board is a meeting with a multidisciplinary team of experts to review patient cases and talk through possible treatment plans. The process of looking at your cancer from different viewpoints and coming to an agreement about treatment makes sure you get the best possible personalized treatment plan.

We also have a specific breast tumor board for patients with breast cancer.
