Summer Health Tips

Keep up your energy and make the most of the end of summer season with a few of these easy health tips!

1 Minute Tip: Start your day by drinking a full glass (8 ounces or more) of water – before you drink coffee, tea or eat anything else. Fill a glass before going to bed so it’s the first thing you see in the morning. Or add a squeeze of lemon for an added burst of vitamin c and potassium. It’s an effortless way to sneak in a little hydration, so make it a daily goal!

5 Minute Tip: After drinking your water, take a few minutes to write down your intentions for the day. Unlike a list of daily goals, an intention is a way of reminding yourself what’s important for the kind of person you want to be – not just the things you want to accomplish. Writing your intention down helps you commit to it and keep your focus on the attitudes and behaviors that will help you achieve it.

15 Minute Tip: Restore and relax with a few easy yoga poses. Child’s pose is great for calming the mind, a supine twist can help ease tightness and tension in the back, and lying back with your legs up against the wall can help increase circulation. YouTube has hundreds of short yoga videos to help you get started.

30 Minute Tip: Get in the water! If you have easy access to the beach or a pool, a water workout is an easy way to get in a little cardiovascular activity no matter what your level of fitness. Just 30 minutes of light swimming can burn over 200 calories – and it’s easy on the joints and fun for the entire family.
