September 2025 Health Tips

Back-to-school season can mean different things to different people, but for most of us it’s incredibly busy and a bit stressful. Take some time throughout the day to relax and ground yourself and you’ll help avoid the issues that come with stress overload!

1 Minute Tip: If a phone call or meeting has you feeling suddenly anxious, try a one-minute tapping exercise for immediate relief. Start by gently tapping the sides of each hand (the karate chop point) with three fingers about 10 times. Then, using both hands and the same three fingers and gentle taps, move to the top of your head, then work down to your eyebrows, sides of eyes, under your eyes, alongside your nose, your chin, and finally your collarbone. You’ll be amazed at how much relief this simple one-minute exercise can provide! The best part – you can do it anytime and anywhere when stress or anxiety starts to increase.

5 Minute Tip: For fatigue and brain fog in the middle of the day, try a simple inverted pose such as downward-facing dog. Simply stand with your feet shoulder width apart, then, keeping your feet planted, bend down and walk your arms well in front of you until they are resting on the ground, and your hips are high in the air – so your body looks like an inverted V. This pose helps increase circulation to the brain, calm anxiety, and increase flexibility. Not bad for one simple pose! Repeat as needed throughout the day.

15 Minute Tip: Clean your faucet heads. Chances are you have mineral deposits built up on your kitchen and bathroom sink faucets and shower heads. To quickly descale and sanitize them, just attach a plastic baggie filled with white vinegar around the head, and secure with a rubber band. You may need to soak for up to an hour (but it’s waiting time, so this still counts as a 15-minute tip!), then gently remove any remaining particles with a toothbrush and enjoy your sparkling clean faucets again!

30 Minute Tip: Go for a walk and gather fallen leaves you see along your way. Put them in a dish or shallow vase or use them to create an art project with your kids or grandkids. Either way, it’s a great way to remind yourself of the beauty of the changing season. Plus, watching for interesting items along your walk is an excellent way to full absorb the beauty of your walk. Just make sure you only collect those items that have already fallen – no picking flowers from your neighbor’s garden!
