March 2019 Health Tips

With so much information online, it can be difficult to know the best way to care for your health and nutrition. You can start by taking some small steps to introduce healthier eating habits into your daily life.

Celebrate National Nutrition Month in March with these quick, healthy tips.

1-Minute Tip: Kick the soda habit (even if it’s sugar-free!) once and for all. Try sparkling water with an ounce of pure pomegranate juice or a handful of crushed blueberries instead. The carbonation will still provide a fizzy lift, and you’ll get an extra dose of antioxidants from the fruit.

5-Minute Tip: Nuts, cheese, and even dark chocolate can be part of a healthy diet, but it’s easy to go overboard. Invest in a simple food scale, weigh out one ounce portions of calorie-dense foods, and then portion them into individual containers for on-the-go, controlled snacking.

15-Minute Tip: Trying a new recipe? Plug the ingredients into an online recipe analyzer (such as this recipe calculator from Very Well Fit) to see the full nutritional information.

30-Minute Tip: Are you following current USDA dietary guidelines? Visit MyPlate to get help planning the most nutritious meals for you and your family.
