November 2019 Health Tips

As the holiday season approaches, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with so many additional items on your to-do list. These quick tips can help you prepare now and reduce stress later in the season.

1-Minute Tip: Take the stairs anytime you’re going up less than four floors. Your heart will thank you – and it’s a great way to help clear your head.

5-Minute Tip: Pick a favorite recipe now that will be your signature item for potlucks and parties during the holiday. Look for ways to make it healthier (reducing the amount of sugar, substituting skim milk for whole, etc.) and consider making a few batches ahead of time and freezing if possible.

15-Minute Tip: Replace batteries in all flashlights, radios or other emergency equipment now. Power outages are common, and it’s easier to be prepared with fresh batteries now than hunt for replacements in the dark!

30-Minute Tip: Ask your holiday guests to provide you with a list of food allergies or other dietary restrictions now so you can plan ahead and double-check your ingredients. Send your hosts the same kind of list for your family, and you’ll help avoid any holiday scares.
