November 2020 Health Tips

While many of us are spending more time at home this year, it can still feel daunting to check things off of our “to do” lists. This November, utilize these tips to tackle one task at a time.

1-Minute Tip: Cool down. If you have a lot to do, the last thing you need is to get overwhelmed. Take a minute to clear your mind and cool down. Take a deep breath and ask yourself this question: what task needs to happen next? Focus on one task at a time, and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get everything done.

5-Minute Tip: As soon as you wake up (and get up), make your bed. It doesn’t have to be fancy or perfect, but doing so can start your day off on a great note. In fact, this simple practice has been linked to greater productivity and overall well-being. Plus, it spruces up your living space and helps to keep things clean. No matter how good or bad your day may be, you can find comfort in coming home to a nicely made bed.

15-Minute Tip: Create a consistent nightly routine. Set out everything you’ll need when you wake up in the morning. Choose your outfit for the following day and set it somewhere nearby. Review what needs to get done the following day. Play a calming podcast or playlist as you prepare to go to bed. Create simple moments of calm and organization so that you’ll be prepared to meet whatever comes your way the following day.

30-Minute Tip: Prepare a weekly schedule. It might seem tedious, but planning out your week in advance will help you stay organized and focused. Need to order some groceries, help kids with homework or prepare for an important business presentation? Write these events down and place them somewhere you can see. Try a planner, calendar or white board. This exercise serves not only as a reminder in the moment, but can help you stay on task as you see it throughout the week. It can also ease anxiety and stress when you know what to expect.
