April 2025 Health Tips

Do a little spring cleaning for your health with these quick and easy tips!

1 Minute Tip: Clean your water bottle. Even if you only drink water from it, you’re still introducing bacteria every time your lip touches the rim. Wash it out every night with soap and hot water, then let it air dry to keep it clean and germ-free.

5 Minute Tip: Replace any sponges you use for cleaning – particularly those used in the kitchen. While you can use them multiple times and sanitize them in the dishwasher between uses, it’s also important to replace them regularly to keep germs and bacteria at bay. Ideally, replace your sponges every week (or two at the most) – or sooner if they start to smell or show signs of wear.

15 Minute Tip: Keep the HEPA filter on your vacuum running at peak function by cleaning it at least every six months – or every three months if you have a pet. If your filter is washable, just rinse it under cold water and let it dry completely before reinserting it. Non-washable filters can be cleaned by tapping or brushing off all loose debris and then reinserting it. If it’s really dirty and doesn’t come clean, it’s time to replace it with a new one.

30 Minute Tip: You probably wash your sheets every week, but how about your bedspread and mattress cover? Thoroughly wash them in the washing machine on the heavy-duty cycle and then vacuum your mattress while you’re waiting to keep dust mites at bay. While you’re at it, vacuum under the bed and enjoy a great night’s sleep in a clean and fresh bed!
