December 2018 Health Tips

We all talk about New Year’s resolutions, but how often do we pick achievable goals that we actually follow through on? Commit to setting realistic 2019 resolutions so you can make this year the healthiest one yet.

Kick off the New Year with these simple, healthy tips for 2019:

1-Minute Tip: Drink more water. It’s easy to get dehydrated, especially if you’re imbibing at parties. Try carrying a water bottle to help you remember to stay hydrated throughout the day. We recommend drinking 4 to 8 ounces of water every hour.

5-Minute Tip: Pack up the leftovers. Holiday entertaining may leave you with too many high-calorie leftovers or other tempting treats. Package up the remaining food and send it home with your guests to enjoy later. Sample gifts of candy or other sweets in moderation, then share the rest with friends, neighbors and co-workers.

15-Minute Tip: Work on decreasing your stress levels with meditation. There are plenty of free apps with short 15-minute - or less! - guided meditations to help you stay present and practice mindfulness.

30-Minute Tip: This year, try to get in the recommended 30 minutes of walking a day. Find a friend to go with you to help keep you motivated! Or pick a parking spot farther away, take the stairs, or walk while you’re on the phone to say hello to a healthier you.
