No matter what your health and wellness goals are for 2026, it’s important to develop habits that support lifestyle changes. These tips can help.
1 minute tip: Every time you brush your teeth is an opportunity to work on your balance. Just stand on one leg for 30 seconds, and then the other for the next 30 seconds. Stay close to the counter in case you need to hold on, but over time you’ll not only improve your balance but also strengthen your ankles!
5 minute tip: Whether you’re winding down after a great workout, or have spent the day standing or sitting, a quick leg reset may be just what you need. Simply lie on the floor and put your feet straight up the wall. Try to work up to five minutes, but even two or three minutes can help reduce swelling and leave you feeling more refreshed.
15 minute tip: Eat one meal or snack while sitting at the table without any screens or distractions. Focus on savoring the food and eating slowly. You might find it hard at first but learning to enjoy food with the distraction of a screen or other entertainment or work is a great way to practice mindfulness.
30 minute tip: How long has it been since you cleaned out your pantry? Just 30 minutes every three months is all you need to ensure your food is fresh and pest-free. Throw out any expired items, or items that have been open for more than a few weeks. Look carefully for signs of beetles or moths that frequently infest dry goods and immediately dispose of any contaminated items. Wipe down the shelves with 50/50 mixture of water and white vinegar and transfer all flours and grains to airtight glass or BPA-free plastic containers. Don’t forget to repeat in three months!
