Why Give Birth Here

We want you to have a comfortable, family-friendly environment and exceptional care throughout your labor, delivery and recovery. That commitment has earned us repeated recognition as a “best place to have a baby” by Bay Area Parent magazine.

Our maternity units at Mountain View and Los Gatos offer spacious, private birthing suites with room for you, your baby and your partner. These units have repeatedly won national recognition for their clinical excellence. From breastfeeding support to onsite neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), we bring you the care you need to keep you and your baby safe, healthy and comfortable.

Birthing Suite Amenities

Our birthing suites were designed with your and your partner’s comfort in mind. All birthing rooms are private and include amenities to ease your experience:

  • Adjustable patient bed
  • Pull-out bed for your partner or support person
  • Large windows and natural light
  • Private bathroom with a shower
  • Television
  • Wireless patient monitoring

All labor support devices and medical equipment for your delivery are in your room and available should you need it.

Mother-Baby Unit

You have plenty of time to relax and bond with your newborn in your birthing suite after delivery. Once you’re ready, we help you both move into a private room in the mother-baby unit. These rooms offer a quiet, peaceful setting for you and your newborn to get to know each other.

We empower you and your baby to stay together to promote breastfeeding and bonding. Your care team, including your mother-baby nurse, supports both you and your baby in the same room — even giving your baby their first assessment and bath. Our lactation specialists visit the mother-baby suites regularly and can help you with information and support as you start breastfeeding.

Birth Center Safety & Security

After your delivery, we are here to make sure your baby stays safe so you can focus on your recovery and bonding with your newborn. For your baby’s protection, we use:

  • ID bands. You, your baby and your partner have matching numbered identification bands. People without bands aren’t allowed to transport your baby or enter the nursery.
  • Security cameras and doors. Our hospitals are equipped with locked, alarmed doors and security cameras in public areas. Security staff monitor these cameras to make sure no unauthorized people enter or leave maternity areas.
  • An infant tagging system. Your baby is fitted with a special security band that will set off an alarm if they leave the area. This advanced infant tagging system provides extra security for your baby.

Once you’re admitted, you’ll learn about additional security measures — including how to identify staff and who you can allow to transport your baby — to keep you and your baby protected.
