Volunteers at our Cancer Center help patients feel seen and supported during one of the most challenging times in their lives. From offering comfort during treatment to helping at community events, your kindness touches every corner of care.

Outpatient Infusion Center Volunteer

Volunteers support the care experience by:

  • Greeting and checking in patients and their visitors
  • Interacting with patients, visiting rooms and assisting with non-medical needs
  • Providing information about hospital services
  • Replenishing and distributing snacks, beverages and comfort items
  • Supporting the nursing staff with light non-medical tasks

Programs Volunteer

Volunteers contribute to the success of our cancer support programs and community engagement efforts by:

  • Assisting with community events and health fairs
  • Supporting cancer-related administrative and research projects
  • Participating in the design of services and resources that improve the patient experience

Time Commitment

Year-round positions are available with weekly shifts of two to four hours. Three- to six-month roles may be available with longer weekly shifts of four to six hours.

How to Apply

All Cancer Center volunteers must:

  • Complete a general El Camino Health volunteer application
  • Interview with the Volunteer Services team
  • Pass a health screening and background check
  • Attend orientation and any Cancer Center-specific training
  • Commit to consistent weekly shifts for the duration of their service
  • Be at least 18 years of age

We match Cancer Center volunteers to roles based on their experience, interests and availability. Training and ongoing support are provided.
