Free Vascular Screenings

The Norma Melchor Heart & Vascular Institute offers a program that provides free vascular screenings to at-risk members of our community.

The risk of cardiovascular disease increases with age, and vascular problems are an early indicator of cardiovascular disease. A vascular screening will check the blood flow in your arteries and look for obstacles such as plaque buildup, blockages or aneurysms, which can lead to heart attack or stroke. A vascular screening can detect these problems before they become more severe.

You may benefit from screening if you are:

  • Over age 60
  • Over age 50 with risk factors including: smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, family history of heart disease, lack of physical activity and obesity
  • Over age 40 with diabetes

Schedule a screening

The screening is non-invasive and takes approximately 30 minutes. An ultrasound will be used to check the carotid arteries, abdominal aorta, and extremity arterial flow. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing for your screening.

Screenings will be provided at the Advanced Care and Diagnostic Center on El Camino Health's Mountain View campus.
